A few mornings ago, after my run, I had an opportunity to talk to the Deerfield Beach Parks and Recreation Maintenance Crew.  The crew was standing around while waiting to be deployed to their day's assignments. I was able to talk to two groups of workers.

The first group was a man and a woman. I asked them if they died where they thought they'd spend eternity.  The woman gave, perhaps, a sarcastic laugh.  The man confidently respond, "heaven."  I asked, "Really?  What do you think it takes to get there?"  He answered, "Well, I'm not saying I'm perfect; I mess up every now and again.  But, I do know to trust Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and try to live your life for him."  I responded, "Very good.  And, have you done that?"  The gentleman nodded his head and said he had.  I asked the woman if she had and she said, "Yes."  I said, "Well, I hope so."

Next, I walked up to a group of five men who were talking together.  I asked them, too, "What do ya'll think it takes to get to Heaven?"  They all said that they didn't know. I spent the next 10 mins sharing with these men about their sin and the forgiveness of that sin that can only be received through Jesus Christ.  One of the men, once I was done, said, "Wow.  That's a lot to think about."  You could tell that the Spirit was working on him and the other men as well. Also, while I was talking to these guys, another gentleman approached the group, but stood about 10 feet away.  I could see him out of the corner of my eye.  He too was listening to the whole conversation.  I pray that these men take the time to reach for that forgiveness and repent of their sins.

Before I left I told them that if they were not 100% confident that they would spend eternity in Heaven, then they shouldn't go to sleep tonight because they're not promised tomorrow.  If they had any doubts, they should drop to their knees before they go to bed and confess their sins; accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior; and, then, live their lives for him.

They nodded.
